Argentina and the United States signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday. The goal is to boost the production of critical minerals needed for the energy transition.

Argentina’s Foreign Minister Diana Mondino and US Under Secretary José Fernández signed the agreement in Buenos Aires. This deal focuses on mining metals like lithium, where Argentina has the world’s third-largest reserves.

The two countries want to work more closely on critical minerals and energy. They also aim to include Argentina in US strategic supply chains.
