The Mossad reportedly hired Iranian security agents to plant explosives where Ismail Haniyeh, former Hamas leader, was staying, The Telegraph reported.
The plan was to kill Haniyeh during his visit to Iran for former president Ebrahim Raisi’s funeral in May. The operation was canceled due to a high chance of failure and large crowds.
Two agents placed explosive devices in three rooms at a guesthouse used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Haniyeh was a frequent guest there. Iranian officials have CCTV footage showing agents moving stealthily and entering and exiting several rooms quickly.
